Ebay
Mobile App Redesign
This is a redesign of the current Ebay app to conduct a case study and reimagine the user experience that addressed some existing pain points.

Understanding
User Goal
On Ebay's mobile app, the watch list is the primary interface that users use that allows users to browse through their selling items. I conducted a case study on this view and reimagined the user experience to address some existing pain points. In order to dive into ideating the new design, I utilized strategy frameworks, defined key metrics, and polished UI redesign.
Current Designs
Home
Home page is the first page that shows up when the user opens the app. In the current view of Ebay's home page, there are too many words that distracts the visual correspondence and makes it look unorganized. For better interface, layouts, colors, fonts could be adjusted and enhance the usability

Watch List
Watch List on Ebay app is an option to save users' items before commiting to purchase. This allows users to keep track of their saved items so they could easily considering buying. People who use Ebay uses Watch lists often as there are many item options listed, however the current page shows some design irregularities that could be improved for better usabilities.

User Survey
I researched few different methods to understand how other users perceive the app's .... interface. The first research I conducted was a survey to 6 people, who all have used Ebay app as one of their online shopping source. The survey included four questions about their opinion on Ebay's mobile app usability.

The first question was "how often do you use Ebay?" to see the user's frequency of the app's usage. Half of the participants replied that they use Ebay when they cannot find an item they cannot find on other apps.

Before collecting my survey participants, I already made sure that they have used the mobile app before, i asked their preference of shopping either on online website or mobile app. 83.3% have replied that they prefer using online website rather than mobile app. Although I there was not a written response section to answer why, they prefered online website, since it is more comfortable to use than the mobile app.

Next question was more in depth to gauge their usability experience with the mobile app's design and functions. All participants have said that the browsing page felt unorganized. Another answer that was profoundly selected was that the product page was inconsistent with their information.

This question asked about the mobile app's interface being helpful and appealing. They have answered that they did not like the design, and majority said they found both designs and functions confusing to use.
User Reviews
Next, I went on App Store on iOS and Play Store on Android to find reviews of the app. People have pointed out some of the complaints addressing their dissatisfied experience, which let me understand better how the design should be revised to create a better user experience.

Users who complained about the usability of the apps mostly mentioned about the watch list on the browsing page felt disorganized and confusing. With these reviews and my surveys conducted, I could conclude that the biggest pain points of the Ebay app was design disorganzation that created confusion in navigation of the app.
After extracting the pain points of the user's reviews and reviews, adjective like "unorganized," "confused," and "unrelated" are used repeatedly. From the current view of the watch list page and homepage, we could see that these are the related results of the app's lack of visual elements and correspondence.
Ideating
Sketching
I started the redesign stage by sketching out the low-fidelity concepts that reflected the collected user pain points of the current state of the app. Without changing the functions of the Home page, I tried to create better visualization by implementing usage of colors, space and depth for more organized interface. On the Watch list page, the biggest redesign was the filter option. The current app had a side menu to sort the list, but it was confusing with too much words and lack of distinction. I had two options to demonstrate, which was a filter wheel on the right bottom that fans out to a wheel, or a drop down menu on the search bar to eliminate any unused space.

High Fidelity Prototype
When designing high-fidelity interface, I kept in mind of the reimagined designs from the low-fidelity prototypes. I focused on the visual organization, which was lacking in the current views, while preserving and respecting the Ebay branding.
Homepage Redesign
The main issue of the current Ebay homepage was that it lacked visual elements with no distinction of the information and products. I made three major alterations, which include better spacing, implementing colors and depth to create an organized page for easier understanding to the users.

Watchlist Page Redesign
There were reviews about the unorganization and confusion using current watchlist from the users. I have located some of the interface that could be replaced. On the current page, there were so many options that were unnecessarily separated by two menu bars. I merged the options to be placed on a single menu with one of the branding colors. Since the options are combined, I altered the navigation method to keep their original functions. "Active" and "Ended" pages could be switched through either the button or swiping te list. Also, Instead of another sorting menu appearing, drop down menu was added to the filter button.

Design Alternatives
While ideating redesign sketches, I had two options for showing the filters on the watchlist page. For my future reference it would be valuable to conduct usability testing on two alternatives and determine a more optimistic interaction. Before I could conduct the usability testing, I have listed some pros and cons of each option below.
